Where to Eat in Cabo: Our Favorite Restaurants From a Local's Perspective

4 years ago I made a decision that scared me a little: I bought a condo in Cabo. I prayed about it for months before I did it, and now it's the place our family gets to come back to again and again, not just for a week at a time. That means I've had the chance to actually live the food scene here instead of just skimming a guidebook the week of a trip, and Cabo's restaurant game has gotten really good.

If you're planning a trip, here's where we actually eat, plus a few spots that have earned real recognition this year that are worth building a reservation around.

Our favorite night out: Casa Martin

If you want one truly special dinner while you're in Cabo, make it Casa Martin by Chef Roger Martin. Robert and I went recently and it might be one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever stepped into, candlelit, tucked into what feels like a private garden, with bougainvillea draped over the entrance and string lights everywhere. It's the kind of place you dress up for and linger over dinner instead of rushing through it.

This is the one to book for an anniversary, a honeymoon, or just a night where you want Cabo to feel like the postcard.

The Michelin-recognized picks

Mexico got its first Michelin Guide in 2024, and Los Cabos and Todos Santos showed up in a big way. If you want to eat somewhere with real culinary credentials behind it, here's where to look.

Cocina de Autor, at the Grand Velas Resort, earned a full Michelin Star, and chef Sidney Schutte picked up his second star for it. This is fine dining at its highest level here.

A handful of restaurants earned Bib Gourmand status, which Michelin gives to the best value for the money, not necessarily the most expensive plate on the menu. In Cabo San Lucas and along the corridor, that list includes Manta, Los Tres Gallos, Metate, Comal, and Arbol. Over on the Pacific side in Todos Santos, look for Oystera (a proper oyster bar), DŪM, and Tenoch. Acre and Flora Farms Field Kitchen also picked up Green Star recognition for sustainable, farm-forward cooking, which is worth knowing if you love a meal that starts in a garden instead of a walk-in freezer.

Local favorites for casual, delicious nights

A few things I've learned living this half-time

Book ahead for dinner, especially in high season. The good restaurants here fill up fast, and Cabo isn't a place where you want to be wandering at 8pm hoping for a table.

Give yourself at least one night for a "special" restaurant and let the rest of the trip be casual. Some of my favorite Cabo memories are the unplanned ones: a taco stand, oysters on the sand, margaritas that showed up without us really deciding on them.

And if it rains while you're there (it happens more than people expect), keep your reservations anyway. The restaurants don't close for it, and a rainy dinner in Cabo is still a very good dinner.

Plan your trip

Cabo has become one of our family's favorite places to return to, and the food is a huge part of why. Whether you're chasing a Michelin Star night at Cocina de Autor or a plate of shrimp with sand still on your feet, there's a version of Cabo dining for exactly the trip you're planning.

If you're headed there soon, save this post, and let me know which one you try first.
