Creatine for Women Over 50: What Actually Changed My Body

Updated: 6 days ago
Creatine is everywhere right now, and I understand why. I took it for years. But I want to tell you the part nobody mentions: creatine did not change my body composition.
Here is what it is good for, and what finally did change my body at 60.
What Creatine Is Good For

Creatine is a great tool for your workouts. Your muscles use it for quick bursts of energy, and in studies of women after menopause, creatine combined with strength training added a little lean muscle and more leg strength than training alone. Researchers are also studying creatine and memory, and that early research is exciting.
I stir one scoop a day into water or my shake. The one I use is Orgain Creatine Monohydrate, unflavored, with 5 grams per serving. If you have kidney problems or take medication, check with your doctor first.
But creatine supports your workouts. It does not reset how your body handles muscle and fat. That took something else.
My Story: Doing Everything Right and Nothing Changed
Before I turned 60, I was working out six to seven days a week, far harder than I do now. I was eating a lot of protein, taking my creatine, eating clean and sleeping well. My body composition still did not change, and the stubborn belly fat stayed.
I felt like I was doing everything right and getting nowhere. If that sounds familiar, I want you to keep reading.
The One Thing That Changed Everything for Me: The Peptides That Changed My Life
Here is what finally made the difference. A peptide is a short chain of amino acids, the same building blocks that make up protein. Your body uses peptides as messengers, and MAKE's bioactive precision

peptides are formulated to support the body's natural processes that tend to slow down as we age: metabolism, muscle and sleep. MAKE says its peptide technology is backed by 10 years of clinical research.

Just before I turned 60, I added MAKE's bioactive precision peptides to my daily routine. By month four, I had lost 3½ inches off my waist, and by month six it was 4½ inches total. My DEXA scan showed 5% more lean muscle and 2% better bone density. Now, at 62, I have maintained those results, and I feel better than I did in my 30s and 40s.
I will say it plainly: these peptides changed my life. I credit LEAN peptide for the change I saw in my belly fat, and I credit FIT peptide for helping me build muscle. Those are my personal results, and they are why I tell this story.
MAKE has two distinct categories: our original wellness Bioactive Precision Peptides and our newer Precision Skincare/Beauty line. RENEWED is the beauty drink, while REVIVED and REPLENISHED are topical skincare; they are separate from the wellness products in my body-composition routine.

• LEAN peptide is the one I credit for my belly fat. MAKE describes it as supporting healthy metabolism and helping reduce cravings.
• FIT peptide is the one I credit for building muscle. MAKE formulates it for better performance and recovery that supports lean muscle growth. It is designed to promote muscle protein synthesis and strength recovery, reduce muscular fatigue and protect muscle mass as we age.
• RESTORED peptide is my nighttime product, positioned for deep and REM sleep support and next-day performance.
Clinical trials report these results for FIT peptide's Metabolic Matrix with PeptiStrong PLUS:
• 47% less fatigue
• 103% strength recovery, compared with 68% for whey protein
• 54% increase in performance
• 4X the protein synthesis of whey protein
The M3 Breakthrough brings FIT peptide, LEAN peptide and RESTORED peptide together, with a focus on movement, food choices and sleep.
My High-Protein Treat

Protein still matters, and I like mine to feel like dessert. These chocolate peanut butter protein pops are my make-ahead favorite.
• Makes: 6 pops.
• Greek yogurt: 2 cups nonfat.
• Protein powder: 2 scoops chocolate-peanut-butter flavor.
• Powdered peanut butter: 2 tablespoons.
• Honey: 2 tablespoons.
• Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon.
• Milk: 2 to 4 tablespoons.
• Semisweet chocolate chips: 1½ cups (9 ounces), melted, for dipping.
To make them: Stir the yogurt, protein powder, powdered peanut butter, honey and vanilla together, adding milk until smooth. Divide among six popsicle molds, add sticks and freeze for 6 to 8 hours. Release the pops, dip them in the melted chocolate and freeze for about 30 minutes until set.
Questions About Creatine and Peptides
Should I Still Take Creatine?
It is a good habit and it supports your workouts. I just do not want you to expect it to change your body composition on its own. It did not for me.
Do I Need to Exercise Too?
Yes. Strength training, protein, sleep and good habits all matter. If you want a place to start, read How to Build Muscle After 50 Without a Gym.
Can I Take Creatine With the FIT Peptide?
Yes. They do different jobs. Creatine gives your muscles energy for the work, and the FIT peptide is what I credit for building my muscle.
The Real Takeaway
Great habits matter, and creatine is one of them. But for me, exercise, protein and creatine were not what changed my body composition. The peptides were. LEAN peptide for my belly fat, FIT peptide for my muscle.
